Celebrations for village hall

Posted on March 15 2009 at 9:47:40

Alvechurch Village Hall is organising a weekend of events to celebrate its 80th anniversary, culminating in an open day on May 4.

The events mark the achievememts of everyone involved in running the hall and all the work carried out on it over the past few years.

The Alvechurch Morris Men are paying for the reprinting and framing of the original Redditch Indicator article about the hall’s opening in 1929 to record the event for future generations.

Also, the list of contributors to the orginal hall has been retyped and framed and will be on display. A copy of this will be in the window of the Parish Council Office and the hall committee is inviting anyone whose relatives are listed to come along on May 4 for complimentary refreshments.
The committee also wants to hear from anyone who has memories of the Village Hall in the form of photographs or written accounts.

These will be displayed over the Bank Holiday weekend, with a prize of £25 for the best.

All entries need to be taken into the Parish Council Office by April 23.
