Children’s calendar raises tsunami cash

Posted on April 28 2005 at 3:00:40

Alvechurch Woodcraft Folk raised £102 to help victims of the Asian tsunami by creating a calendar depicting the help that was needed.

The brightly-coloured collage included food, water, money and medicines.

The calendars were then sold to family and friends, raising the cash for Fisherfolk Aid, which is involved with the redevelopment of the fishing industry in areas effected by the tsunami.

The Bromsgrove and Redditch divers caught in the tsunami have so far raised £60,000 to help Hikkaduwa, the Indonesian village whose people did so much to help them.

Members of the group have been to the village with the funds and report back that so far no international funding has reached there.
