Church to commemorate WWI

Posted on June 30 2014 at 3:27:20

St Andrew’s Church in Barnt Green is to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War with a number of events this year.

Firstly, the All Age morning worship service at 9.30am on Sunday August 3 will be themed around WWI.

Then on Monday August 4 there will be an Evening Vigil from 10 - 11pm, commemorating the moment war broke out at 11pm on August 4, 1914.

This will include readings, music, time for reflection and prayers for peace.

Later in the year, the church is planning an exhibition of photographs, books and artefacts from WWI.

This is due to take place on Friday November 7 and Saturday November 8 (the two days before Remembrance Sunday, November 9), and it is hoped that there will be a selection of items with a link to Barnt Green or the surrounding area.

If you have something you would like to put on display and share your story in this way, then please contact either the parish office on .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call Bill Davies on 0121 445 0125.

Everyone is welcome to all these events.
