Undeterred by the build-up of rain, rain, and more rain, the second GlastonBeoley charity music festival went ahead as planned – and beat its fundraising target.

The final total was still to be confirmed as we went to press, but it topped last year’s figure of £10,000.

The event was opened by Beoley First School choir, whose performance appeared to beckon the sunshine, and force the clouds away for the rest of the day! Festival-goers then enjoyed music from 38 bands in two venues, a bar by Sip & Swig, and various food vendors.

All the bands performed for free to help raise money for three local charities – Redditch Nightstop, Charlotte and Craig’s Saving Hearts Foundation, and Inspire Redditch – along with national charity The Sophie Lancaster Foundation. All funds raised on the day will be donated to these charities.

The cost of staging GlastonBeoley was met by various fundraising events prior to the festival, and there was also generous sponsorship from Oakland International, Duchy Homes and Higgs & Sons solicitors.

Event organisers plan to start fundraising soon for the next GlastonBeoley, which will raise money for a new set of charities. Look out for news on
