The top prizes in a prestigious golf tournament open to juniors across the Midlands held by an Alvechurch club were all won by lads with plenty of local knowledge.

The Kings Norton 2014 Junior Open attracted more than 40 young golfers from across the region who took on the course from the white competition tees in the most testing of conditions.

Undeterred by the wind and rain, the club’s own Junior Captain, Joseph Edwards, won the trophy for the best net score by carding a 70.  The runner up was fellow Kings Norton member Harrison Hill (pictured with Bob Cashmore).

Meanwhile, the trophy for the best gross score was won by Kings Norton’s Lewis Savage with a 75 (net 70).

The winner of the trophy for best net girls’ score was Emily Sutton from Walsall Golf Club with a 77 net.

Kings Norton was particularly pleased to welcome players from the Lee Westwood Tour who also competed in the event.

Club Captain Bob Cashmore congratulated all of the players and winners alike, and thanked the team at Kings Norton for organising another successful event.
