Litter on Bittell Road

If you’re fed up with seeing litter in the hedgerows, now is your chance to do something about it - join the Barnt Green Litter Pick on Saturday June 8!

Barnt Green Residents’ Association (BGRA) and Barnt Green Scout Group are showing how much they “Love Where They Live” by taking part in a litter pick around Barnt Green and the immediate surrounding area, and they are hoping local residents will come and help.

As part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Love Where You Live campaign, and Scout Community Week, they’re taking responsibility for where they live rather than waiting for someone else to sort it out.

Simon Gompertz, BGRA committee member, said: “We’re proud of where we live and want to see it looking its best. The Love Where You Live campaign is all about finding positive ways to improve the environment we live, work and play in.

“This fits well with BGRA’s aim of safeguarding and promoting the interests of residents in Barnt Green and the immediate surrounding area on matters concerning housing, planning and the environment.”

Ruth Dugdale of the Barnt Green Scout group said: “It is great to work jointly on improving our village, and we’re doing this as part of our Scout Community week.”

Supporters of Love Where You Live sign up to six key principles which state that they will:

1. Encourage personal responsibility and positive action

2. Work in partnership with neighbours to reduce litter
3. Take responsibility for keeping their own immediate area clean
4. Raise awareness and education about the prevention of littering
5. Make it easy for people not to drop litter
6. Become an active ambassador for clean, green places throughout England and the UK.

The Barnt Green Litter Pick takes place on Saturday June 8 at Millennium Park, Hewell Road, Barnt Green from 2-4pm.
