Posted on January 24 2011 at 1:32:10

A 20-year-old West Heath man appeared before Worcester Crown Court today charged with murder following an incident at a pub in Alvechurch.

Joshua Christopher Davis, of Marden Grove, West Heath, Birmingham, was charged with murdering John Francis Parkinson following an incident at the Red Lion pub on January 15.

Davis spoke only to confirm his name during the preliminary hearing in Worcester. He was remanded in custody.

Mr Parkinson, 50, was single and lived in Alvechurch. His family said last week: “We are in deep shock over the loss of a much loved brother and son. He was a genuinely kind person.”

Detectives investigating Mr Parkinson’s death have set up an incident room at Redditch Police Station and can be contacted on 0300 333 3000.
