Pumpkins on parade

Alvechurch’s first Pumpkin Festival was a great success, with more than 100 diverse exhibits grown, carved or made by creative villagers.

Exhibits included everything from home-grown pumpkins and intricately-carved designs to knitted, crocheted and painted versions – plus the inevitable “Donald Trump-kin”!

Some 300 visitors also enjoyed pumpkin refreshments, read themed poems by the Withybed Poets and viewed all the entries in the logo competition.

The event raised more than £900 for the Village Hall and teen suicide prevention charity Papyrus, and there are plans for a repeat next year.
