Queen’s jubilee party plans take shape

Posted on February 21 2012 at 1:12:25

Plans for a large event in Alvechurch to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee are forging ahead.

Led by the parish council, a working group has been formed bringing together people from sports and youth groups as well as those used to organising events in the village.

It will be held on June 4, the bank holiday Monday, starting at 11am, at The Meadows. Activities, including a pig roast and shows in a large marquee, will run there until 6pm, when the event will continue at Alvechurch Cricket Club [by then joined to The Meadows by a new bridge] with a band and other entertainment.

Other groups are already organising events to coincide with the celebrations, including a wildlife walk around the village by Alvechurch Village Society.

For more details of how to take part, call parish councillor Natalie Wise via the parish office on 0121 447 8016.
