Bett and Sam

A youngster from Cofton Hackett has become the national squash champion for his age group after a flawless progression to the final.

Sam Osborne-Wylde, aged ten, took the Under-11 title at the England National Squash Championships in Nottingham, where 56 of the country’s top junior players were competing.

Sam, who trains at Barnt Green Sports Club, went into the competition as the top seed and didn’t drop a single game, winning every match 3-0.

He was up against England’s number two, Timothy Lloyd, in the final, which Sam won 11-3, 11-4, 11-7.

“We would like to thank Sam’s coach Bett Dryhurst, who introduced him to squash at the age of six,” says Sam’s mum, Annie.

“Bett works tirelessly to encourage children of all ages to play and love squash as much as she and Sam do.”
