Simply Fresh plan setback

Posted on November 27 2017 at 1:48:19

Plans for an “upmarket” grocery store in Alvechurch have been sent back to the drawing board after they were deemed inappropriate for a listed building.

Villagers have been looking forward to the new Simply Fresh store for many months, but Bromsgrove planners have refused the planning application for a large extension to the premises in The Square at the bottom of Bear Hill, saying it “overwhelms the host building” and “would have an overbearing and overlooking impact on the surrounding dwellings”.

It is not known how the delay will affect Alvechurch Post Office’s move into the store, which they had hoped to have made before the end of the year.
