Nigel Morley

The Midland Sinfonia’s founder, Nigel Morley, is back by popular demand.

In a Piano Recital on March 10, at St Laurence Church at 7.30pm, Nigel will perform works by Bach, Schumann and Schubert.

Nigel Morley is an acclaimed concert pianist, accompanist and conductor. In 1995 he founded the Midland Sinfonia, an orchestra made up of mainly young players at the start of their musical careers.

In addition to playing in Alvechurch and other venues in Worcestershire and farther afield in England, they also toured in Europe. Over the years the orchestra built up a loyal following in the area.

Nigel is very interested in choral music and has coached amateur choirs to performances of challenging choral works to a high standard of singing and musicality.
In 2006 Nigel decided to return to his roots in Lincolnshire and has continued to lead a very successful musical career.

While living in the Midlands he had been Music Director of The Boston Sinfonia, which he continues to direct. This year he has invited The Midland Hospitals’ Choir, with whom he has had a long association, to sing with The Boston Sinfonia in Boston.

Since returning to Lincolnshire Nigel has been appointed as Music Director of The Lincolnshire Youth Orchestra as well as Head of Conducting at Keele University, where he has responsibility for the Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir.

Tickets £12 on the door, or in advance from The Village Green Grocer or Marian on 0121 447 7040 or marian@midland Students and registered unemployed £5, children free when accompanied by an adult.
