The final details of Alvechurch’s Christmas event on December 1 have been released.

Radford Road (from The Dilshad to the back of Gin & Pickles) will be closed from 4.30–5.30pm, ready for Joanne Malin to switch the lights on at 5pm.

There will be carols from Alvechurch Community Choir, plus the announcement of which shop has won the Best Dressed Window competition. Many shops will also be open.

There will then be a procession to The Lawns for the switch-on of their lights and more carols.

The care home’s Christmas bazaar will be running from 3–8pm, and on the same night, The Midland Sinfonia present a Concert by Candlelight at St Laurence church (see What’s On for details).

Meanwhile, children can hunt for Santa and his reindeer in village shops and businesses until December 9. Application forms are at The Lounge and library, and the winner will be drawn on December 13.

Barnt Green’s event is on December 2, with the new light switched on at 4.30pm and the tree at 5pm. There’s music from Blackwell Concert Band and Cats’ Chorus choir, plus seasonal refreshments.

In Blackwell the tree lighting is on December 1, at The Wheel at 5.15pm, while Lickey has its Christmas concert and switch-on at 4pm on December 3, at Holy Trinity Church.
